How do I book?

Send us an enquiry with your dates, group size and what you're after. We'll come back with options and a firm price. Once you're happy, a deposit confirms your dates.

There's no online booking — every trip is quoted on what you actually want to do.

What licence do I need?

A current firearms licence. Everything you bring has to comply with the laws of the state or territory where the hunt takes place, and with our own safety requirements — no exceptions, and we will check.

What's the nearest airport?

It depends on the region. For Cape York, most guests fly into Cairns and travel north from there by road or charter. For the Northern Territory, guests fly into Darwin and we arrange transfers from there.

We'll confirm the detail with you once your dates are set.

Where do I stay?

In accommodation on the property you're hunting. A bed, meals and guiding are all part of the trip.

Do you offer transfers?

Yes. We can arrange transfers for an additional fee — from Cairns or Cooktown for Cape York, and from Darwin for the Northern Territory.

Mention it in your enquiry and we'll quote it with the rest of the trip.

How fit do I need to be?

It's hot, it's humid and the days are long. You'll walk in country that doesn't have tracks in it. The walking is the hard part — the shooting is usually the easy bit.

You don't need to be an athlete. You do need to be honest with us about your fitness and any medical conditions so we can plan properly. Tell us in your enquiry.

Are meals included?

Yes. Every trip is all-inclusive of accommodation, meals and guiding.

Transfers, licences, ammunition, alcohol and personal gear aren't included.

Question 8

When's the best time to come?

Accepted Answer

Both ends of the season hunt well, for different reasons.

Early season is greener, with water spread right across the country. Late season concentrates game around what water is left, and generally hunts better.

How much ammunition should I bring?

Bring a minimum of 100 rounds. Most people go through more than they expect.

Can I drive myself?

Accepted Answer

For Cape York, yes, if you've got a capable 4WD. The roads change with the season and some of them will punish a vehicle that isn't up to it.

For the Northern Territory, transfers are arranged from Darwin, so talk to us before you plan on driving yourself.

Either way, ask us about road conditions before you commit.

What if I've never hunted before?

That's fine. You need a firearms licence and a willingness to listen — the rest we'll walk you through, from safe handling to shot placement.

Our guides take first-timers regularly. Say so when you enquire and we'll plan the trip around it.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Tell us in your enquiry and we'll work with it. We're a long way from a shop once the trip starts, so we need to know before you arrive rather than on the day.

Question 13

Can I combine hunting and fishing?

Yes. You can split your days between the two, or tack a fishing day onto the front or back of a hunting trip. It's the most popular option for mixed groups.

You can also do a straight fishing trip with no hunting at all.

What happens in the wet?

Nothing — we don't run trips. The roads go under, the country turns to mud and there's no safe way to work it.

What calibre should I bring?

It depends on what you're hunting. Buffalo in the Northern Territory and scrub bulls in heavy country ask a great deal more of a rifle than wild boar do.

Tell us what you're after and what you own when you enquire, and we'll tell you whether it'll do the job.

Can I bring firearms from interstate?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you're responsible for meeting the requirements for transporting firearms into the state or territory you're hunting in, whether that's Queensland or the Northern Territory. It isn't difficult, it just takes time.

How far ahead should I book?

Accepted Answer

We only run trips through the dry, so there's a limited number of weeks in a year and the good ones go first. If you have specific dates in mind, get in early.

If your dates are flexible, say so — it's usually easier to find you something that works.
